Greek tennis star lauds Swede's 'incredible' legacy and leadership
Stefanos Tsitsipas paid rich tributes to retiring Laver Cup captain Bjorn Borg, with the Greek star describing the Swedish legend as the "most good-looking captain" he had encountered.
Borg, one of the sport's greatest ever players, announced at the start of the tournament in Berlin that this year's event would be his last as Team Europe captain.
Tsitsipas impressed by Borg's leadership
Tsitsipas praised Borg's leadership and guidance during the tournament, saying he was "an incredible captain" who had helped create a "great atmosphere" within the team.
The Greek star also praised Borg's "incredible" accomplishments as a player, saying that the Swede was "one of the greatest to ever play the game."
Tsitsipas is one of several top players who have paid tribute to Borg following his announcement. Rafael Nadal called Borg a "legend" and a "true champion," while Roger Federer said that he was "one of the best captains I have ever had."
Borg has led Team Europe to victory in four of the five Laver Cups that have been played. The only time they lost was in 2017, when Team World won 15-9 in Prague.
The 66-year-old Borg is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He won 11 Grand Slam singles titles, including five Wimbledon titles and six French Open titles. He was also a member of the Swedish team that won the Davis Cup in 1975.
Borg retired from professional tennis in 1983 at the age of 26. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1988.
In addition to his tennis career, Borg has also worked as a coach and commentator. He was the coach of the Swedish Davis Cup team from 1994 to 1997.
