49ers Receiver Brandon Aiyuk Requests Trade

49ers Receiver Brandon Aiyuk Requests Trade

Rumors of his departure have been swirling for months

San Francisco reportedly willing to listen to offers

The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly negotiated the frameworks for trades that would send wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to either the Green Bay Packers or the Kansas City Chiefs. Publicly, the 49ers have said they want to retain Aiyuk, who finished with a career-high 1,342 receiving yards last season, but have also said they'll listen to offers.

After months of stagnant contract negotiations, Aiyuk officially requested a trade on Tuesday. The 25-year-old wide receiver is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is set to make $2.3 million in 2024. Aiyuk is reportedly seeking a contract extension worth at least $20 million per year.

The 49ers are reportedly willing to trade Aiyuk for a first-round pick, but it's unclear if any team is willing to meet that asking price. The Packers and Chiefs are both in need of a wide receiver, but both teams also have other needs that they may need to address in the offseason.

If Aiyuk is traded, it would be a major blow to the 49ers' offense. Aiyuk was one of quarterback Trey Lance's favorite targets last season, and his departure would leave a big hole in the team's receiving corps.
