Matty Healy of The 1975 Talks Being Funny in a Foreign Language
Healy Takes on His Critics with Humor and Sincerity
Matty Healy of The 1975 is known for his witty and often controversial social media presence. However, in recent interviews, Healy has shown a newfound sincerity, particularly in discussing the band's fifth studio album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language.
In an interview with Zane Lowe, Healy took Lowe on a tour of Manchester and talked about the album. Healy explained that Being Funny in a Foreign Language is a return to the band's roots, with a focus on simple, catchy songs. He also discussed the album's themes of love, loss, and redemption.
In a separate interview with NME, Healy addressed his critics. He said that he knows that he can be polarizing, but he doesn't care. "I'm going to keep being myself," he said. "I'm not going to change for anyone."
The 1975's Being Funny in a Foreign Language is set to be released on October 14th. The album is the follow-up to 2020's Notes on a Conditional Form.
